Welcome to the jungle es el primer single de la banda norteamericana de rock "Guns N' Roses" desprendido del álbum "Appetite for Destruction".
Welcome to the jungle fue escrita por Axl Rose y Slash. Según Axl la inspiración para escribir la letra le vino de un encuentro que él y un amigo tuvieron con un vagabundo mientras caminaban en la ciudad de Nueva York, el vagabundo en cuestión los enfrentó y les gritó: "You know where you are?, you're in the jungle baby, you're gonna die!" ("¿Sabes dónde estas?, estas en la jungla bebé, ¡vas a morir!"). Dicho incidente causó un gran impacto en Axl, el cual lo convirtió en uno de los temas más representativos de la historia del rock
Estoy totalmente de acuerdo con lo que relata el comentario #1, solo quería agregar que mientras Axl vivía en el sótano de la casa de Slash, un día le llevó la letra de la canción, y este compuso el mítico riff de guitarra en cinco minutos, en una guitarra acústica. Cuando llevaron la letra y la canción a la sala donde ensayaban, el tema salió muy rápido, incluyendo los cambios de ambiente (propuestos por duff McKagan, el bajista). Cuando grabaron su primer disco "Apettite for Destruction", este tema fue propuesto como corte difusión, pero quedó opacado por Sweet Child o' mine. El video lo pasaron una sola vez en MTV a las 4 de la mañana, pero de tanto que la gente llamó para solicitarlo, lo tuvieron que volver a repetir.
