En verdad, al escuchar la letra parece carecer de sentido, de no saber de que están hablando, como que nos quieren contar una historia juntando frases al azar.
Después nos explica la propia banda al presentar el álbum que "Cicatriz", que así se traduciría en español, es como parte de un inicio de una historia en la que se habla de Dani California (la protagonista del álbum) una mujer adolescente que se ha quedado embarazada.
Lo sorprendente llegó cuando le preguntaron acerca de la canción al cantante Anthony Kiedis y el dijo que la canción en realidad estaba dedicada y habla de la pintora mexicana Frida Kahlo, porque habla de las derrotas y de los malos momentos de la vida que ella supo convertir con el tiempo en belleza.
