Puesto #1 "Boys Don't Cry" pertenece a la banda inglesa The Cure y fue lanzada en junio de 1979, en el periodo conocido (por algunos) como post-punk.

Fue grabada en el Reino Unido como un single independiente y fue incluido como tema en el álbum Boys Don't Cry que es la versión americana de su primer album en Inglaterra llamado Three Imaginary Boys.
Escrito por Michael Dempsey, Robert Smith y Laurence Tolhurst, la letra habla de la historia de un hombre que se rinde en recuperar el amor de una mujer que ha perdido, e intenta disimular su estado emocional , como dice en una parte de la cancion: "riendo, escondiendo las lagrimas de (sus) ojos, porque los chicos no lloran " ("hiding the tears in [his] eyes, 'cause boys don't cry").

En abril de 1986 fue regrabada bajo el titulo "New Voice · New Mix", en el cual el tema original fue remezclado y las voces regrabadas. Esta nueva version no fue bien recibida por los fanaticos quienes se quedaron para siempre con la version original.
Por es cuando "Boys Don't Cry" apareció en cualquier álbum posterior (grandes exitos, recopilaciones, bandas sonoras de peliculas), fue siempre con la versión original.
